Working with the Leicester West Children's Centres

TheVERYidea artists worked in partnership with Leicester West Children's Centres to deliver training on Outdoor Play to practitioners from early years settings and Schools in the area. The practical workshops shared the huge benefits to children’s learning and development that playing outdoors can offer. The sessions shared ideas and strategies for developing stimulating, child-led, outdoor experiences. Practitioners explored big and small scale play using a wide range of multi-sensory, open-ended, recycled and found materials and gathered ideas from the artists’ extensive outdoor work in early years settings. The artists put together take away sample bags of resources to help practitioners put their plans into action.

Alison Simpkin, Children's Centre Teacher:

"Feedback from the early years practitioners who attended a two hour workshop stated that it was a very informative, inspirational, motivational and stimulating session, giving staff lots of ideas to take away, especially with natural resources. They found it to be very enjoyable and great fun!"
